Shaken Not Stirred…

June 24, 2010

So I am sitting in the lunch room at work. Minding my own business when all of a sudden the floor started moving. Now you have to understand I work on the 6th floor of a short and squat building. By rights the floor should not have moved at all. Let alone the way it was. I honestly felt my stomach roll. When I realized what it was the first thought to come rolling through my head was “Im not going home to my kids tonight.” I honestly thought the building was going to come down.

I have never felt such a blind panic in my life. And the worst of it is it wasnt even that bad of a earthquake! Only 5.0 magnitude. But it was also the first time I felt an earthquake and I had no idea what on earth it was. I thought maybe terrorist attack due to the G-20 summit that is taking place this weekend, or that a car or truck had hit the building maybe, but it took me a few minutes to actually realize that it was actually an earthquake.

Once I had checked in with those that I care about I was alright and soon things returned to some normalcy and life rolled on.

And to make the day even more interesting, there have been tornadoes and bad thunderstorms all over the place around us. What a day for Mother Nature. She sure has been busy.

Perspective is everything. My cast and crew are knee deep in G8/G20 … my first thought during the e-quake? That someone was screwing around with my chair trying to get my attention/goat. I whipped around to find no one … then it dawned on me … oh … it’s an earthquake. Second thought … triple bonus points for the advanced guard contingent that has an “IN THE EVENT OF EARTHQUAKE” tab in their play books.

    : )

I have not said before now … I enjoy your blog.
