The Great Kitten Caper

April 19, 2011

Ok so we know I am crazy as they come. And that I have the biggest heart. Well I also have a partner in crime who feels precisely the same way I do.

Last night my neighbour and I were coming home from the mall and we heard this tiny cry for help. We finally pinned it down to a neighbours garage. It was a tiny kitten. We didn’t realize how small it was at that point but we knew it wasn’t very old given the sound of its cry.

After an hour of trying to find it in the garage my friend went into her house for a moment and that was when the chase began.

I had no sooner laid eyes on her when I tried to scoop her up and she bolted. A cute tiny tuxedo kitten with big ole me running after it.

Please try to remember its about 930 at night at this point.

Finally it got cornered into my neighbours back yard and then bogged down in the leaves. I picked her up and needless to say she was unimpressed and hissed at me twice before she realized I wasn’t going to hurt her and proceeded to snuggle down into my arms.

The next step was to figure out what to do with her. We tried animal services and guess what their response was? She’s a wild cat now turn her loose. My response? Kiss my grits.

We called around to some of our neighbours who had been interested in a kitten (when we had first caught Scruffy and her babies a month ago)
And sure enough an hour after we caught her she was safe in the arms of someone who would love her.

Another one off the streets. Thank god.

Until tomorrow…
